Damned if we do, damned if we don’t. That is the current situation many of us have experienced or are experiencing since this pandemic began. We were challenged to not only change our way of living, but also our way of thinking. DICHRO explores this in their video for their latest single “One Lane Bridge.” The group was formed during the pandemic so it makes perfect sense for them to sing about it.
The video was filmed in the style of The Blair Witch Project, and it touches upon how a lot of us have been feeling anxious, isolated, and scared. There’s new information coming out every day, and some are willing to adapt, others not so willing, so we are all walking this bridge, and bumping into people who are walking against the flow of traffic. Instead of helping each other out, most are fighting against one another, and are leaning towards becoming a part of the problem and not the solution. A very powerful message is being given in this video, and is something I feel anyone can relate to.
I realize I have been speaking a lot about the pandemic in previous MUSE articles, but since this is something still affecting everyone and something I come across daily, I feel all I can do is talk about it. I’m sure musicians feel that way too. It’s a way to use the creative energies to hopefully give people a cathartic release from everything they are feeling, and maybe even offer a glimmer of hope that it won’t always be like this.
