Batshit(Halloween Special)(Review)

It was 8 years in the making, and I had the privilege of seeing the premiere of Batshit! from Just Buried Entertainment. It was billed as a love letter to films such as Evil Dead, so I was interested to see what was in store.

The story sees a down on his luck man named Felix who is the unlucky recipient of a new experimental drug treatment that causes bizarre hallucinations as a side effect.

I will say this, I was impressed because for what was produced on essentially a shoestring budget, plus people dropping off the project, but you could hardly tell because of the presentation. It’s not going to be the next Spielberg, but still it will impress you just with the presentation alone.

There’s that splatstick humor, plus reoccurring visuals that come up, for example a rock lobster, or a goat. You can play a game to see how many scenes they show up in. The different animation styles were cool as well with even a claymation segment.

It does what it says, the movie will go Batshit with zany situations that Felix finds himself in. It’s better to just turn your mind off and just let it happen. Blood does flow. Also there are some Easter Eggs that reference all the influences behind the film. Only complaint is maybe some scenes overstayed their welcome, but otherwise, I had a very fun time.

All in all, I will tip my hat to Todd Wolfson because he made this film happen, and I wasnt sure what to expect, but he definitely did well with this. This is the first feature film, and he did tease maybe sequels or extended cuts. There’s still plenty of footage left over, so we shall see.

You can now check out Batshit for yourself, go get a copynow!

Till next time, Happy Halloween!
