Experimental prog band SPANK BYTE invite you to take a journey with their song “Funeral of Innocence”. This is a journey within your mind and soul and their musical accompaniment will help guide you there.
The song is very much an instrumental, which is okay because no words are needed for what the song is trying to express. The grooves of the guitar entice the listener to kick back and relax, just take your mind off things, and let yourself drift into the cosmos. Maybe it is just me, but I noticed there is also a bit of a reggae influence within the song. Something I can get behind because as much as I enjoy my music load, sometimes I just need that music to relax to. Enter that state of zen, and let all my worries drift away. This song does exactly that. The video is during a live performance, and it was filmed by Randall Cole Image. I couldn’t help notice the band was using a hang drum, which if you have no clue what that is about, I invite you to look up hang drum playing on Youtube. They create beautiful tones, and make for good meditation music.
The song will be featured on an upcoming album Soul Arcana. You can check out another song off the album called “The Ankher”, which is available here. They are planning to release the album sometime in Spring of 2022, so if you want to presave that, you can do via this link as well as check out other things they have going on.
