After toiling away, pouring their heart, souls, and their very being into their music,Distortion Productions recording artists Death by Love brings us their debut album 444. It is an immersive dark soundscape that speak of passion, peace, and maybe a bit about hope. It is very much meant to be a wake up call.
There are 11 tracks here, and we get a blend of pounding industrial, trip-hop, gothic rock, and even a Middle Eastern influence. The dulcet tones of the lead female vocalist adds that ethereal touch as it fills the songs with emotion and reverence. There are sections of the album that are intense, with interludes that slow it down to become a more intimate experience. The top tracks that I liked was “Selleno”, “I Don’t”, “Strong Inside”, and “Temros -Symphonic Mix”, It’s all rather danceable, and I could see a few tracks being played within a club. The final track is a very emotional one, with messages that are meant to resonate with the listener.
As a whole, it was very much worth the wait for this album to come out. I really loved the Arabian influences as well. It gave it that tribal feel, and I could smell the incense and hear the jingles of belly dancers in the air. Mostly, each track is meant as a message of love and unity. To take us back to a time of human experience. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the modern era in the digital age, and everything being on the internet. This album is a reminder of that the ancient universe is still out there. It is crying out, and this serves as an answer to that call. It says wake up, remember who you were. Also if you ever wanted to know what would happen if Nine Inch Nails ever married with Dead Can Dance, this album would give you an idea of what that love child would be like.
The album was just released into the wild today, and you can grab it here.
