You have to admit they tried their best to milk the cow that was The Amityville Horror. But it was hard to follow up on the first film that was frightening because of how realistic it was.
Amityville II: The Possession takes away all the realism and turns it into a supernatural horror. The results were varied. The movie sees a dysfunctional family moved into the infamous Amityville house, and the evil preys on their teenage son. He becomes possessed by the evil entity, and it is up to a local priest to save his soul.
The film goes to very weird places, including a incestuous relationship between the teenage son and his sister. Grant it, the brother was possessed at the time, but it was still icky to witness. Then we get a poor man’s version of The Exorcist when the priest tries to drive the evil away from the boy.

A pretty subpar sequel, if you want to see it for yourself, it is currently streaming on HBOMAX.
Till next time, stay scared!
