Blue Monkey AKA Insect!(Review)[Twisted Throwback Thursday]

Giant freaky insects always make for good monster flicks, especially in a hospital of all places. Blue Monkey aka as Insect! is a B- horror movie made in 1987 that is very underrated.

The plot is about an old man that receives a mysterious bite and ends up being an incubator for an undiscovered new species of insect. He goes to the hospital and they end up having the prevent the infection from spreading as well as an infestation.

The mysterious insects then end up exposed to genetic material that causes them to grow and mutate further. We end up with something that is mantis-like and what’s worse is when it is discovered they are breeding and using human hosts to incubate their young.

A pretty icky creature flick at times and very high stakes as the hospital ends up quarantine to prevent the infection from spreading then its a matter of dealing with the insect menace.

This is a pretty good flick and the effects were done well. It is currently streaming on Tubi and this film is very rare and not widely known which I think it should get more attention that it has gotten. Maybe a future re-release will help in that.
