Final Destination( 2000)(Review)

With all the films in the Final Destination now available for our viewing pleasure, let’s take a journey throughout each one. Let’s begin with the very first Final Destination from the 2000s. This came at a time teen movies were exploding to the point every genre was being invaded. What was brilliant is how unassuming this movie seemed.

It has one of the best opening scenes in horror history as a young man has a premonition of his plane exploding. He saves himself and group of his friends, only to learn death has a design, and if there’s one thing you cant do is cheat death.

This film sets the tone of setting up the deaths to come. Some are a simple as coming out of complete nowhere to brilliant set ups with twists and turns. The Rube Goldberg element definitely all began here.

It also marks the first appearance of Tony Todd as William Bludworth. His character is rumored to either be the personification of death or the devil. Either way, it is awesome. He only has one scene but he makes it work so well.

With death, there are no happy endings. There is no escape. So there’s no surprise it won’t end up well for our survivors. And the ending directly ties into Final Destination 2.

It doesnt get much better than the first one, and this helped set the formula for all the rest of the films in the franchise to follow. There was pretty shocking deaths. Very gory ones, and the practical effects were amazing. My favorite movie out of the whole franchise. Just everything about it worked like an well oiled machine.

Next time, we will be seeing about Part 2, rhe one that made everyone paranoid of log trucks.

Till next time, stay scared!
