In Search of Darkness 1995-1999(2026)(Review)

Hello everyone, Mike here.
We have been given the opportunity to review the new release of the next chapter in 80shorrordoc’s ‘In Search of Darkness’ journey, titled – ‘In Search of Darkness 1995-1999.’

We’ve covered some of the older films in the past, but this series is one that does a very deep dive into the notable horror films that were released from 1995-1999. It’s primarily a talking-heads discussion that features many familiar faces such as Jamie Kennedy, Paul W.S Anderson, Dee Snider, Heather Langenkamp, Doug Bradley, and so many more.

Tackling each year one at a time, they cover every big (and some very deep cuts) film of its time. We’re talking everything from ‘Scream’ & ‘The Craft’ to ‘Tales from the Hood’ & ‘Strangeland’ – with so many lesser-known titles that I either hadn’t heard of, or only remember seeing the box art growing up in video stores. Every on-screen personality has a lot of spectacular insights to share about the different productions, media influences, behind-the-scenes experiences, lessons learned, etc. This provides the participants with the chance to simultaneously give and receive their flowers. It’s really a 6-hour long nerdgasm for seasoned horror fans and newcomers alike.

This series has always had strong outings. They previously did a trilogy that covered the 80s front to back, and this release is their follow up to ‘In Search of Darkness 1990-1994.’

We can’t recommend it highly enough. This film scratches that really specific itch for horror nerds. And luckily enough, THIS WEEK ONLY they are running a flash sale on their website where you can purchase the digital edition of this film for only $27.99! There is also a bundle available if you want to check out the entire 90s collection (which we strongly encourage you to do so).

Check out the website and watch the 7-minute long, highly detailed trailer right here

We want to once again thank the team over at CreatorVC for inviting us to check this out! It was such a pleasant opportunity to check out a film we were already heavily anticipating.

‘Til Next Time,
Mike Cleopatra
