Lunatics: A Love Story(Review)[Twisted Throwback Thursday]

Sometimes I find myself watching movies thar are very weird and surreal in nature. Lunatics: A Love Story is one of those type of movies. This is a movie I never even knew existed but after watching, I’m glad I was introduced to it.

This is a Sam Raimi production and he brought his brother Ted Raimi along with frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell. The movie is about a reclusive poet who is a victim of bizarre hallucinations who crosses paths with a girl, and they form a relationship despite the circumstances of their lives.

When the hallucinations happen, they range anywhere from brain sucking spiders to a mad doctor that torments the poor poet. The woman suffers from a break up with her boyfriend and has a run in with a gang shortly after. You can say this is more of a romantic comedy with shades of horror.

Despite everything, they both try to make it work between them, even when the man sees things that are not there. This understandly frightens the woman away, but in the end, they end up with a happy ending. Well as happy it can get for them.

This film was quirky, heartwarming, and just trippy as heck. It is currently streaming on Tubi if you decide to check it out. Which I recommend especially if you are discovering this for the first time like me.

Till next time, stay scared!
