Still chugging along here, I haven’t finished this retrospecive yet and I have more I want to do. We are going to get through this.
So…we are at Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and this was not only a new start for the franchise but one that focuses more on the Nazi influence of the film.
We travel to the past yet again, this time we are following Danny Coogan who wants to fight in the war, yet can’t due to suffering from a limp. He is frustrated he can’t join, and then he happens upon a chest of puppets who help him uncover a nefarious plot.
So the regular cast of puppets return as well as some new ones. The biggest addition is one named Ninja who kills by using throwing stars. And the puppets fight back against the Nazis so they are playing the anti-hero role here. And the kills were pretty violent and some disgusting due to the puppet Leech Woman.
They do make you feel bad for Danny. He just wants to do what is right and everyone cuts on him because of disability, even his own girlfriend is involved in his misery. She promptly gets herself kidnapped due to her own actions. It is then it is up to Danny and his band of puppets to save the day.
This entry was okay. They leave it open ended to build up for the sequel. And this starts the Nazi era of the series as all movies that followed were all having to do with Nazis.
This is currently streaming on Tubi if you decide to check it out.
Stay tuned for the next entry, part X!!
Till next time, stay scared!
