Puppet Master: The Legacy was essentially an expanded highlight reel with a wrap around story to try to provide some sort of plot development. This was a sequel to Puppet Master V, and with the message included after the final scene, a tribute to all the Puppet Master films so far.
The plot follows an older Eric who is tracked down by a femme fatale and forced the divulge the secrets behind the Puppets being able to come to life.
So essentially we are watching flashbacks to the previous 7 films for the most part. When we return the two main characters, it’s mostly a lead in to the next highlight. Nothing really new significantly happens here, and even though it’s fun revisiting the films we watched before, it’s not something I feel we needed a whole movie for. And the ending was very confusing and open ended.
As a trip down memory lane, this film was fine as it was. Probably could do better to just find a highlight reel on YouTube. Or go through the other Puppet Master retrospectives I have done here so far. It is streaming on Tubi if you are curious, but you won’t miss much if you decide to skip it.
Stay tuned for the next part which is versus battle.
Till next time, stay scared!
