Gruesome Gazette

Vampire’s Kiss(Review)

So hey since we featured two horror movies this week starring Nicolas Cage, why not have another as a treat? Vampire’s Kiss is quite the treat. It is the quintessential Cage film. If anyone asks what it is like to experience one of his movies, this is the one to start them out with.

We see a business executive Peter who picks up a woman at a bar, and after she bites his neck believes he is becoming a vampire.

And yeah, he absolutely commits to the bit donning plastic vampire fangs and all. The deranged look he gets on his face as he berates his secretary has been the subject of many memes. That poor secretary.

Besides all that, this film contains the greatest scene in cinema of mimes having a slapfight. It’s just so random and comes out of nowhere. It fits the manic energy though that Vampire’s Kiss has going for it.

More of a dark comedy. we are literally watching a man’s descent into madness. Though you start to believe like him that the woman is truly a vampire and she has infected him.

The movie ends with a Cage’s character asking to be put out of his misery and finding “love” in the process. He ends up getting his just desserts regarding his treatment of his secretary.

Vampire’s Kiss is just something that has to be seen to be believed and it’s currently streaming on Tubi if you want to see it for yourself.

Till next time, stay scared!
