Witchboard(1986)(Review)

There are a remake of Witchboard announced, so figured it was time to unearth the original 1986 version to see what it was like. It’s something that is just your typical 80’s horror. so much so that it is almost painful to watch.

The plot sees a group of friends who are having a party and they decide to bring out an Ouija board. They communicate with a spirit who calls himself David, but it might be something that has evil intent for them all.

So out of all them, it’s Linda who the spirit preys on the most, at first seeming helpful and friendly. There are some mysterious deaths. Now she straight up stole the Ouija board and just started using it. Her friends are concerned and think she is going to end up possessed. How did they figure this out? Because Linda starts swearing up a storm. Apparently that is a sign of possession If your friend starts slinging curse words like a truck driver, its means demon possession.

The friends are rather concerned, especially her ex, so they bring in a psychic. When that doesn’t work, the remaining surviving friends must figure out how to exorcise the spirit before its too late.

The film itself is okay. It’s just okay. It’s very cliche, very 80s, and I can see why it’s faded into obscurity. Maybe the remake will breathe new life into it. Witchboard is currently streaming on Tubi if you want to. check it out.
