Curse Mackey just released to the masses their most intense and intimate album in their catalog known as Imaginary Enemies. It completes a trilogy which starts with Instant Exorcism and Immortal Emporium, and this album has a bite to it.
Containing 10 tracks, they don’t waste time getting started with a driving very danceable rhythm. There is definitely elements of industrial, darkwave, and it is absolutely goth through and through. The album is dark, yet strangely beautiful as well. The vocals are alien in nature, containing rage, sorrow, and lament, and they drive the nature of the music contained within. My top favorite tracks are “Doomed For Monday”, “Discoccult”, “Blood Like Love”, the title track “Imaginary Enemies”, and “Kindness of Serpents”.
The album as a whole is methodical, and it is very deep with the themes behind the songs. If you are a fan of goth music, then you will find this very enjoyable. You will find yourself very attuned to the music, and most likely I wouldn’t be surprised to hear some of these song on the dance floor. The album released today, and I highly recommend checking it out!
