Custom(2024)(Review) - Gruesome Gazette

I always been one to not be afraid to seek out obscure horror. Looking for and finding the most mind bending films to exist. I discovered one called Custom that is absolutely weird and is a head scratcher to boot.

The plot sees a couple who decides to get into making porn, and offering customs to potential customers. They receive an unusual request that requires them to perform ritualstic tasks. Soon they find themselves in a world of something unknown and terrifying with no way to escape.

This film is British and is the debut of a director named Tiago Texfiera. It’s low budget and features a very small cast. This one is a combination of psychological horror mixed with the supernatural.

There is a great deal of nudity and sex involved, and also a touch of Videodrone. The visuals really get strange along with the sound design to match. You are going to have a tough time deciphering what is actually happening. Our players know something is weird, but they keep going with the instructions they are given.

Of course, they are given one rule, and they decide to immediately break it. We arent even sure if it’s a person who is talking to them. This movie gets convoluted especially when we get to the ending that seems to feed into how the movie began. Are they caught in a loop? Who knows. I suppose that is left to the viewers interpretation.

In all, I found this movie just very bizarre. It wasnt a bad watch, and there was a sinister tone to what was going on. Mostly just will find yourself confused. If you’re curious, you can find this streaming on Amazon Prime.
