Accursed(2022)(Review) - Gruesome Gazette

Sins of the mother will be passed onto the daughter. In a nutshell, that is the framing of The Accursed. Where usually we see a young girl possessed this film shows us what happens if a demon possessed someone old. What if that person died? This film explores that.

The plot sees a woman who agrees to be a caretaker for an older woman only to discover her client is harboring an ancient evil and the whole thing was a trap as she is chosen to be the next host.

Mostly this film is about losing a mother with a CGI spookfest piled on top of that experience. The jump scares are ineffective. There’s a train whistle out of nowhere.I couldn’t help but laugh at the ghost saying “I’m pissing myself”. I mean it was meant to be scary in that moment but the delivery and realizing yes indeed this ghost is peeing all over the floor, I was beside myself.

So yeah the woman tries to escape from being the next host, she almost does until she gets captured again. She fights the demon in all its glorious CGI. But evil always finds a way to prevail.
I was expecting something much spookier than what I got. It had some creepy moments. The story was good. Just yeah really felt pretty mid to me. It at least tried a different formula.
