Alien: Resurrection(Review)

With all the Alien hype lately, lets take a look at Alien: Resurrection. It’s very weird and to make it weirder there’s this sexual undertone throughout the whole movie. Maybe because the director is French that had something to do with it. This film goes places that’s for sure. Spoilers ahead as we go on this journey together.

It takes place 200 years after the events in Alien 3. With use of genetic experimentation a military outfit manages to produce a clone of Ripley so they can extract an Alien queen from inside her. As a result of that, Ripley is now part Xenomorph. The Alien Queen ends up having human DNA. This is all so they breed Aliens for their pet science project. Of course, the Aliens escape and once again it is up to Ripley to clean up the mess.

Brad Dourif has a role of one of the lead scientists and it seems in every scene he shows up he is near orgasm. He probably would fuck a Xenomorph if he could. Ron Perlman plays a mercenary and he is absolutely chewing the scenery the whole time. Like absolutely chomping on it. Winona Ryder plays Call and everyone talks about fucking her. Yeah everyone just wants to fuck in this movie. All the cast in this was just great with what they did. The guy in the wheelchair was a hit.

Also Christie was the MVP of the group.

You have the Xenomorphs who are very moist and just dripping everywhere. That’s was something to see. If you ever wondered can they swim, well this movie answers that question. Once the Aliens escape, they just absolutely slaughter anyone in their path. There is a scene where they headpunch someone and the person reaches back and pulls part of their brain out before they die. That was pretty gruesome yet cool.

Ripley and the fellow survivors then find out the ship they are on is heading to Earth so they must stop it. As they are making their way throughout the ship, they find a guy who has been impregnated with a chestburster. They are all arguing whether to keep him alive, he keeps asking what’s inside him. Finally he screams “What’s in fucking side me?!” Ripley answers him and he calmly accepts his fate.

Oh then Ripley finds a lab full of failed attempts to clone her. That was a trip seeing all the Ripley/Xeno abominations. There was one still alive. “Kill me” she says. Ripley emotionally obliges by torching the whole place. Ron Perlman’s character shows up basically says women and goes to join the rest of the crew.

So then we arrive to that scene. The Aliens snag Ripley and they are writhing and undulating as she slips between them. Then she is being embraced by a Xenomorph as a lover. Did I mention this movie is weird. You know what’s the first clue. The opening credits. That was body nightmare fuel in itself.

So then she finds out the Alien Queen has since developed a womb and she’s very very pregnant. She arrives to witness the birth of The Newborn. It’s a human/Xenomorph hybrid and to show it means business it promptly kills the Queen. Meanwhile Brad Dourif is here telling us how this monstrosity is a beautiful beautiful butterfly. And that gets the creature’s attention. How does he get thanked for his praise. He gets chomped on the head.

So yeah the Newborn accepts Ripley as her mother. There is a scene of her just caressing this creature and its supposed to come off as tender but with the sexual overtones its not. It’s just super awkward.

And in the end The Newborn goes out in a very disgusting way. Again, eww.

Yeah that’s Alien Resurrection. It’s very weird but it also has its own quality. Oddly enough I liked it. I’m not saying it’s perfect but it works within the universe. It gave us our first idea of what an Alien/human hybrid would look like. It has charm. But yeah also this movie was very horny.

If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out. You can’t go wrong. It is currently streaming on Disney Plus.

Till next time, stay scared!
