Blood Glacier(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

There are those movies with a message of the dangers of global warming and Blood Glacier is one of those movies. Films like John Carpenter’s The Thing ran so films like this could walk.

The plot sees a research team in the Austrian Alps that discovers a glacier that is leaking a red substance that causes genetic mutations in the local wildlife. That must fend against the threats of the creatures while avoiding infection themselves.

The mutations that happen see a combination of animal and insect, and the creatures are a legitimate threat because if they don’t kill, they will pass the infection on to the next host. Different members of the team find out how this out to their horror.

Mostly it a survival tale of man against nature. It goes from then discovering what is happening to figuring out how to survive until the next day. The team ends up even battling against themselves. The end sees the survivors deciding on if new life can see the light of day and its not an easy situation.

In all, this was a creature feature that ended up being better than what would anticipate it to be. The practical effects are very good, and it keeps the tension and action very fast paced. If you like films dealing with monstrosities caused by science gone wrong, then you will enjoy this one. It is currently streaming on Tubi if you decide to give it a whirl.
