Demons were very popular in the 90s. Demon Wind came along to add to the popularity.
The plot sees Cory and his friends go to an old farmhouse to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his grandparents. They end up trapped fighting demonic forces who are seeking to claim all their souls.
There is definitely an Evil Dead kind of vibe, especially when they all end up in the farmhouse. There’s an old book of spells and incantations, an ancient dagger, and oh yeah, the dead being resurrected as demons. The makeup effects in this film are very well done with each and every demon looking bloody, pus-filled, and just gross looking in general. There are copious amounts of gore, especially when the demons start killing. Some of the visual effects are questionable, but it is a product of the 90s, so that is to be expected.
So as we get to the end, they tease doing the whole fake-out of it was all just a dream, and just when I was about to be highly annoyed, it led to the ultimate battle of good and evil. And of course at the end there was a final teaser because that was another popular trope at the time with demonic movies.
Demon Wind is a pretty fun watch I can say. Not an exact favorite, but if you liked Evil Dead or Night of the Demons, you will enjoy this. It is currently streaming on Tubi if you want to check it out.
Till next time,
