Fire in the Sky set the bar for alien abduction movies. It’s something that was filmed to be as authentic as possible and was based on a testimonials of the abducted.
The plot sees a group of loggers who have a close encounter after leaving their shift and one of them ends up abducted. They end up ridiculed and everyone accuses them as having a hand in the appearance. One day, the abducted returns back home, and helps lead credence to the happenings.
The film starts out well enough with the group being interviewed and we see things play out as the story is being told. There is emotional turmoil and strife within the group as well as with the townspeople.
Then during the final moments of the movie and we get to that scene as we see the experience of what went down in the ship. It’s very harrowing and a bit gross. It doesn’t last long but it’s enough to frighten the viewer.
We have a good cast here with Robert Patrick in the lead role and Henry Thomas who once again is in a movie about an alien menace. The designs of the aliens are something else as welk as the exterior and interior of the spacecraft.
This is really a good sci fi flick with elements of drama and some body horror involved. If you haven’t seen it or just want to revisit it like I have, it is available to rent on Amazon and Vudu.
Till next time, stay scared!!
