Halloween Ends(Happy Halloween #16)(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Originally I was going to save this for closer to Halloween, but after viewing it, I had to talk about it sooner. I’m in the camp of people who ended up disappointed by this film. We got the closure between the Laurie Strode and Michael Myers saga, but everything that led up to that was a disjointed mess. It was like the story writers has a whiteboard they threw darts at and whatever was chosen was thrown in.

The plot follows from the end of Halloween Kills where we see a changed Haddonfield, one still haunted by the spector of Michael Myers. Laurie and her daughter find themselves pulled into one final battle for Haddonfield’s soul.

As the movie starts and really gets going, don’t be worry if you are confused as to what you are watching. I know I was like did the channels switch on me, am I watching a Hallmark Halloween special instead. Instead of seeing Michael Myers continuing his rampage or seeing high stakes for Laurie we are instead watching them do stuff like dating!! The daughter gets in a relationship with the bad boy who is bullied and picked on for being a psycho. Turns out he is a total psycho.

So with that, there could been a beautiful set up to have someone carry the Myers legacy, a new breed carrying out the mission. But even that gets fumbled. Most disappointing of all, is the fact no kills happen until almost halfway through the movie. The kills we got were very brutal and intense, but will have the audience wondering why it took so long to get there.

The ending scene saw the final confrontation between Laurie and Michael, and it was what it was. This should hopefully see the franchise finally have a satisfying conclusion and it can have a dignified end. Hopefully no more sequels or reboots, but knowing Hollywood, they will find someone to keep the franchise alive.

So really can’t say anything good about this one. If you rather skip the theatrical release, it is currently steaming on Peacock. Maybe your view of it will be different, but to me, this entry was a dud.

If you have already seen Halloween Ends, definitely feel free to weigh in with your thoughts below.

Till next time, stay scared and Happy Halloween!!
