Joy Ride(Review)[Twisted Throwback Thursday]

When out traveling, you should be extra careful not to set off the wrong person. That is the lesson two brothers learn in Joy Ride.

The plot sees the two brothers who go on a road trip to meet a girl and decide to play a prank on a truck driver that goes by the name Rusty Nail. The prank backfires in the worst way and sees the brothers running for their lives.

This film has very intense moments as the truck driver is very tenacious in making the brothers pay for their mistakes. We don’t even see him initially, all we hear is the voice, and that is enough to make chills run down your spine. The brothers learn they messed with the wrong guy especially when they discover they are dealing with a complete psycho.

A few fun facts about this one. Paul Walker is one if the lead roles and this came about the same time he would become famous for playing in Fast and the Furious. Also did you know Joy Ride was co-written and produced by JJ Abrams?? I certainly didn’t know that. This was way before Abrams became famous for wonky sci-fi gems and the dreaded lens flare moments.

Joy Ride is a very fun watch, it will definitely keep your attention and hoping that everyone escapes alive. The movie was so popular that it got a couple direct to video sequels. I would imagine those wouldn’t come close to matching what the first film presented to us. This flick is currently streaming on Tubi if you decide to check it out.

And that wraps up 2022. Stay tuned tomorrow for our best of 2022 lists!!

Till next time, stay scared!!
