Silent Night(2012)(Happy Horrordays # 26)(Review)

There was already a remake to Silent Night, Deadly Night before they made another one this year. It was called Silent Night(2012), and even though it was very corny, it’s brutality would influence such films as Terrifier 3.

The plot sees a masked man dress as Santa and go on a killing spree. A deputy is tasked with trying to find the killer before he ruins the holiday festivities as the body count rises.

This Santa finds different ways of dispatching his victims, and it is very random. No one is safe, except those he feels are too innocent to kill. He takes the silent part literally, and thats where you can see similarities to a certain killer clown. Just as ruthless.

Malcolm McDowell shows up in a sheriff role, and the rest are just fodder aside from the female protagonist. The dialogue is groan worthy at points. Some people i think was enjoying just chewing the scenery. For example that church scene. It all leads to a fake out ending then a reveal as to the true identity of the one responsible for the murders.

The kills are just very extreme, and blood just flies everywhere. That’s the only thing worth watching this for because otherwise you will be turning your brain off. It’s not the greatest, maybe even unnecessary, its at the least just okay. There are better killer Santa films out there, and maybe the new remake will turn out well.
