Sinners(Review)

Homecomings aren’t always what they cracked up to be. The same could be said for Sinners. Those expecting a thrill ride will leave disappointed.

The plot sees Michael B Jordan pulling double duty playing twin brothers Smoke and Stack making their way back home from Chicago. They build a juke joint that attracts the attention of a different type of crowd.

This film has style that is very reminiscent of the time period it is based in. It also contains colorful language from that same time period. The dance hall scenes where thet have different dances of various cultures were pretty cool.

However its more or less just there as you wait for the good stuff to start. Which doesn’t happen until over an hour into it. There was no reason to justify its 2 hour run time.

When the threat reveals itself in its bloody glory, which of course its vampires, the last half hour devolves into all out chaos. People are absolutely mauled. Blood spurts everywhere. No one is safe. There is a mid credits scene that amounts to nothing.

In my humble opinion, the hype of the film was not as deserved. It was decent, I’ll also say this much From Dusk to Dawn walked so this film could barely run. Its currently streaming on Max if you want to give it a look.
