The Deeper You Dig(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Before the Adams gained notoriety with Hellbender, they worked on and released some indie horrors, and one of them was known as The Deeper You Dig. It was directed, produced and also starred the Adams Family crew.

The plot is about a Tarot card reader and her daughter who live a quiet life together until one day their paths cross with a recluse. Their meeting would come to throw them both on a dark path which they may never return from.
This is one of those slow burn horrors. It doesn’t take long for the event to happen that is the catalyst to what is going on. After that, you are waiting as the horrors slowly creep on you.

So far these guys have proven they can provide atmospheric. Also the sound design alone adds an erratic nature to the events unfolding. There are some disturbing images as the mother shows just far she is willing to go to get what she desires. Even if it means her death.

I very much felt this film was laying groundwork for Hellbender. They both have similar themes…a mother/daughter bond that cannot be broken. Also the fact a song from the band Hellbender that plays during the credits was a very solid clue.

So yeah this one was pretty good, and even if takes a bit for things to happen, your patience is definitely rewarded. It is currently streaming on Tubi if you decide to check it out. Which I recommend especially for those curious to see the beginning of the Adams Family career.
