We all seen ghost films where we see from the humans point of view, but The Presence shows us from the point of a view of a spirit. It’s an unique gimmick that actually works very much in this film’s favor.
The story sees a family move into a house and learn they may not be the only occupants.
So you’re going to notice just how that camera just glides like butter. It mimics the movement of the spirit. It mostly is watching the family as they go about their lives. You wonder is it good or evil?
Well brother Tyler is an asshole about everything. It doesn’t help when douche boyfriend shows up. The spirit is very protective of the sister. It even prevents the sister from danger the first time her life is in danger.
There are enough clues as to the identity of the spirit and what it’s there for. But in case its not clear enough, they reveal it to you at the end. They even explain how.
Being in the pov of the ghost was pretty cool and a lot of fun. In some ways it’s reminded me of films like Stir of Echoes. It wasnt scary but thrilling especially seeing the spirit learn how to manipulate its environment. This one is currently streaming on Hulu, I would recommend checking it out. Just enjoy the ride.
