Send Help(Review)

Sam Raimi still shows he got it with putting out great horror films that still capture the manic energy he is known for. Send Help will have you laughing or you will find yourself wanting to vomit. It’s a very mixed bag.

The plot sees a low level employee and her new boss who go on a trip to Beijing, only for their plane to crash. They end up in a test for survival on a deserted island with seemingly no chance of being rescued.

We get a bit of a workplace drama, and then it turns into a survivor horror. The one key lesson this movie wlll teach the audience is that there is no greater danger than underestimating your own opponent. It’s definitely a power struggle that is taking place. It’s fun to see Rachel Adams character turn things around on her jerk of a boss.

With it being Raimi, you can expect it will get messy, and this film does with both blood and vomit spilling out. I don’t think he could help himself with having a little Evil Dead reference in one of the later scenes. There’s some comedy moments as well to lighten the mood.

As the film goes on, you then find out that Rachel’s character who is named Linda, she is very devious. This all sets up a major twist that comes in the ending. It is something that is unexpected.

Overall it is very solid horror that’s a bit of everything, and people will just have an enjoyable time watching it. I will say it was refreshing to see a movie that pits man vs woman without the romantic trappings. It’s purely survival of the fittest. If you want to check it out, you can find it currently streaming on Hulu.
