Hellraiser(2022)(Happy Halloween #17)(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

When it was initially announced, I had my doubts of a new entry in the Hellraiser franchise. But after seeing the trailer and numerous positive accolades, it piqued my curiosity more. I went in blind, and afterwards I can say I am singing my praises as well.

The plot sees a young woman who discovers the puzzle box, solves it, and must now feed the box or else become the latest victim of Pinhead and their legion of cenobites.

There are very different ideas involved in here such as the puzzle box having different configurations, and each one marks the victim for Pinhead to come collect. Director David Bruckner did his homework here, and it shows in what he presented to us. The cenobites are very different, no longer are they shown with a S & M design, instead they are very fleshy and unsettling. Once Pinhead makes their appearance, from the moment they speak, you will recognize this is a very different yet fascinating presentation than what you are familiar with. But very faithful to the franchise as a whole.

The plot is very engrossing, and another thing I admired is the score which had some callbacks to the original Christopher Young score. The ending scene was absolutely insane and does well in setting up the future of the franchise.

Yes I absolutely loved the film, the gore levels were what you would expect from a Hellraiser film, and I will go so far this is the best entry since Hellraiser 1 and 2. It is easy to see why it’s gotten so much well deserved love from horror fans.

It is currently streaming on Hulu, so if you haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out! If you already seen Hellraiser(2022), feel free to leave your thoughts below!

Till next time, stay scared and Happy Halloween!
