Here is a movie that will mess with your perspective. Hide and Seek is full of twists and turns and shows that madness begets madness. It is about a grieving daughter and her father who are reeling after the sudden loss of her mother. They move to small community to try to recover, and the father notices the little girl acting strangely, talking about an imaginary friend named Charlie. At first, it seems harmless, but then it becomes a dangerous game for them both.
As the movie goes on, the viewer is left to question if Charlie is actually real or is everything an elaborate ploy of the girl. We are accustomed to these types of movies where the children are actually the evil ones. But then you realize she could be manipulated by someone else. And at that point, the movie drops the hammer and reveals the identity of “Charlie”. It is a good set up leading to the twist, and the final moments are intense. The movie ending suggests that the madness lives on, which is in a way understandable with all things considered.
Robert De Niro plays the main character, and he had a knack for the type of role he has in the movie. The film is pretty entertaining, and if you like mindbending horrors, you will have to check out Hide and Seek for yourself. It is currently streaming on Hulu.
Till next time, stay scared!
