Influencer(2023)(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Horrors based around technology and social media have become my bread and butter as of late. I’m really enjoying the new season of Black Mirror(there may be a forthcoming review on that one). Influencer(2023) is a definite look at the worst that can happen when trying to be a social media celebrity.

The plot sees Madison who takes a trip to Thailand and is not having the best time until she meets the mysterious CW. CW shows her a brighter side of life but then things take a darker turn.

The movie sets up well what’s going to happen and even CW is so confident she tells Madison as much as to what is going to happen. Then we switch over to watching CW as she deals with the consequences. We are never told plainly what her motivation is but we can get a good idea.

This one is light on the kills and there is one particular kill that will be enough to make you cringe. As to the story of Madison, it pretty much ends in a way to show overconfidence can be a downfall.
This one dragged at points but was pretty interesting enough. This is more so a moral story for social media influences and portrays a real life scenario that can happen. If you are into those tech based horrors, then it’s definitely worth checking into. It is currently streaming on Shudder.
