It’s A Wonderful Knife(Happy Horrordays #18)(Review)

The latest holiday horror to enter a fold is essentially a loose retelling of the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life except with slasher elements. It’s A Wonderful Knife is a horror that is fun to experience with heartwarming moments as well.

The story takes place in a community called Angel Falls where our main character Winnie successfully stops a masked killer from starting a reign of terror. One year later, she is still coping with the fallout of those events and feels unappreciated. She wishes she never existed and is transported to a reality where the killer still roams free. She has to find a way to stop the killer again and be able to return back home.

During the course of the movie we follow Winnie in a reality where no one knows who she is. They don’t know she stopped the killer before and we do get an early reveal as who the culprit is. However the killer in the alternate reality is different this time. The community nicknames them The Angel and they murdered so much that it’s become a normal occurrence. No one is really concerned about stopping the killer except Winnie and another person she gets to join her cause.

The kills that happen are pretty gory but nothing too extreme. Justin Long stars as the antagonistic business man/mayor and is a complete condescending asshole. When the killer is unmasked in the alternate reality, it’s not who you think it is. The ending has some fun reveals with heartwarming moments.

In all this is a fun holiday slasher, I really enjoyed it because it offers something different in the slasher genre being full of blood, good humor, and feel good moments. I feel everyone will enjoy it as well and this would be one you can even show during holiday gatherings. It is currently streaming on Shudder so I highly recommend checking it out.
