Stranger Things is a series I am an avid follower of, and with Season 4 premiering May 27th, I decided to keep up the hype by visiting the soundtrack of the first season.
Known as Stranger Things Volume One, the soundtrack keeps the aesthetics of the series as far as paying tribute to the 80s. Most of the songs are heavy on the synths, and as the series is part kid adventure with a mix of horror, the content within is reminiscent of that. You will hear heart warming songs to songs that speak of unknown horror and dimensions. Take a listen to the track “Upside Down” for an example:
Composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, what I love most is how their works pay tribute to the horror score greats such as John Carpenter. Just like how Stranger Things is a tribute to Stephen King and Steven Speilberg. Everything is meant as a nostalgic blast from the past, and it is why I fell instantly in love with everything about the series. Horror and Sci Fi fans both will enjoy the soundtrack, and should be an easy add to your collection.
Till next time, stay scared!
