The Cursed(2021)(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

Silly humans, always messing with things we shouldn’t be and getting ourselves cursed. That is the premise behind the period piece horror called The Cursed.

The plot is set in a village in 19th century France that has been plagued by supernatural events and unexplained disappearances. A pathologist is sent and decides to investigate. only to find a disturbing secret that explains the happenings the villagers are experiencing.

We do get some set up which helpfully explains why the villagers are so cursed. After the curse is enacted, there is some very spooky imagery and then we get some pretty gnarly body horror moments. There are very gory scenes when villagers end up killed by a mysterious creature and there is some slight misdirect as to exactly the type of creature preying upon the people.

This movie is very gothic in tone, and will keep your attention all the way to the bitter end. One of the better horror films I have seen, and it’s pretty popular within the horror community. It is currently streaming on Hulu if you haven’t seen it yet.
