Bodycam(Review) - Gruesome Gazette

We seen found footage movies that featured bodycam footage before, but Bodycam is the first horror film that was presented that way the entire time. This is a thrill ride featuring cops against the unknown. It wasnt that bad either.

The movie is about a pair of cops who respond to what they are told is a domestic disturbance call. They end up shooting someone, and try to cover it up. But then they find themselves being stalked by a supernatural force.

So it could be demons or maybe even some kind of cosmic horror. Either way, whatever was summoned is really pissed and it can easily subjugate and possess its victims. We keep seeing a symbol pop up every time it wants to make itself known. It’s established as much as the cops try, they cannot escape its influence.

There’s a great deal of atmosphere, and it makes you look beyond what you see in front of you. There’s scenes of gore as well with blood gushing from people. We arent told much except one repeating phrase is “You took something from him, he takes something from you”.

Him is a being known as the UnderMan. Very well could be demonic in nature but I feel possibly it’s an eldritch horror as well. Now when they finally reveal the entity, I felt this is where people will check out. It might have been CGI, but yeah it’s a bit goofy with the design. Its a pity because before that, there’s a good bit of scares and much dread.

Then we get to ending. This is where it also gets dumb because people fell into the trap that was set for them. Even someone who was like seer, who seemed to know about the entity, and was trying to avoid it. All to fall right into its clutches.

It had the good, and it had the bad. Honestly, it was pretty mid. I feel with found footage horror, you might find ones that are really effective. This one was just more so a retread of ideas already seen before. If you want to see it for yourself, it is currently streaming on Shudder.
