We’re All Going to the World’s Fair(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

I am going to warn you, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair is going to stick in your brain long after viewing it. It is still in my mental space. It is designed as a creepypasta and it succeeds at being very disturbing.

The movie centers around a young teen named Casey who plays a popular online role playing game which affects its users and causes changes within anyone brave enough to play the game.

Mainly we are following Casey as she documents her experience after entering the game. You get a sense of the reasons why she entered the game, such as a hint of a troubled family life and not having any friends. Besides her live feeds, she watches videos of others who played the game from a YouTube equivalent site.

It is during this she meets a mysterious user by the name of JLB who wants to help her before she descends further into the madness of the game. You may be wondering what his motives are in doing this, which yeah, definitely raises some questions.

Creepypastas fascinate me because they can get very disturbing and definitely let your imagination run wild. This film really messed with my brain, specifically when Casey records herself sleeping to see what happens. I knew to expect something to happen but the way it happened was enough to give me goosebumps and internally clench in terror. There are questions if what is happening is real or just pretend, which we never really know for sure. What we do know is that Casey is in danger.

It’s not even just the game itself she is in danger from either. She communicates with a strange man, and even though he presents himself as wanting to save her, my God the subtle hints are abundant to show he poses a threat to her as well. This is movie that shows the very real threat the internet can pose to young people. There are so many things out there, and kids and teenagers are very impressionable. They can open doorways to things they don’t understand and make them vulnerable to predators who take advantage of them in the process. All I have to say to that is a big giant YEESH!

if you follow creepypastas and enjoy disturbing films, this one is right up your alley. I can guarantee you will be thinking of it for awhile. It has a limited theatrical release, but you can also rent it on Amazon Prime and Vudu as well. If you already seen We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, feel free to leave your thoughts below!

Till next time, stay scared!
